0W20 oil — for which engines?

4 min read

0W20 oil is a representative of very low-viscosity oils, designed with modern, economical engines in mind. Its use, however, has its limits.

Who is 0W20 for?

0W20 oil is used mainly in new petrol engines and hybrids, where the manufacturer deliberately chose low friction to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

Why not for every car?

  • Very low viscosity requires a suitable engine design
  • In older units it may protect worse against friction
  • Use only when the manufacturer explicitly permits 0W20
  • The wrong viscosity means higher wear and a risk of failure

Compliance with the manufacturer’s recommendations is crucial — they specify the permitted viscosity classes. We’ll help select the right oil during a mobile change.
