Oil for cars with a DPF/FAP filter

4 min read

Oil for a car with a DPF/FAP filter is not the place to cut corners. The wrong product can clog the expensive particulate filter.

Why does a DPF require special oil?

During filter regeneration, part of the oil ends up in the exhaust system. Ordinary oil leaves ash in the DPF that gradually clogs it. That’s why Low/Mid SAPS oils are used.

How to choose oil for a DPF?

  • Check the required ACEA standard (usually C2/C3)
  • Verify the car manufacturer’s approval
  • Choose an oil with a reduced ash content
  • Don’t use ordinary A/B oils in a car with a DPF

Frequent city driving makes DPF regeneration harder and puts extra strain on the oil, so it’s worth keeping to the interval.

We’ll select an oil that’s safe for the DPF during a mobile oil and filter change.
