Oil change after buying a used car
Bought a used car? An oil change is the first thing worth doing. Find out why and what else to check at the start.

Oil change after buying a used car
4 min readAn oil change after buying a used car is an investment in peace of mind. We rarely know what oil was last used and when — so it’s worth starting with a clean slate.
Why not put it off?
The seller doesn’t always tell the truth about servicing. Old, worn oil may already have lost its properties, and you have no way to verify it. Fresh oil from a known brand means a confident start.
What to change and check at the start?
- Engine oil and oil filter
- Air, cabin and fuel filters
- The level and condition of service fluids
- The condition of the timing belt or chain
It’s most convenient to do it all in one day as a package. A full oil and filter change plus a fluid check is a good starter set — check the scope and prices in the price list.
It’s also worth considering a pre-purchase car inspection if you’re only planning the deal — take a look at our other services.
