Do you need to reset the service reminder after an oil change?

After an oil change you should reset the service indicator. This way the car correctly counts down the time and mileage to the next change.

Why does it matter?

An un-reset counter keeps showing that a change is needed, or confuses the following intervals. That makes it harder to stay on top of the car’s servicing.

How to reset the service reminder?

• With a procedure from the dashboard (a button combination)
• Through the on-board computer menu
• With a diagnostic tester in newer cars
• The method depends on the make and model of the vehicle

At every mobile oil change we reset the service indicator as standard, if the car allows it.
