Campervan electrical installation

Campervan electrical installation

Building a campervan, or want to stop depending on campsite hook-ups? We design and fit 12 V systems from the ground up — solar panels, batteries, alternator charging and inverters. Every project is quoted individually.

Ask for a quote for an electrical installation

An installation is always tailor-made — a setup for weekend trips looks nothing like one for working remotely from a campervan for six months. Describe how you use your campervan and what you need, and we’ll prepare a proposal and a quote.

We look after campervans and vans at our workshop at ul. Zielona 40 in Siechnice and with call-out across: Wrocław, Bielany Wrocławskie, Długołęka, Kiełczów, Smolec, Radwanice, Żerniki Wrocławskie, Żórawina, Miękinia, Kąty Wrocławskie, Kobierzyce, Iwiny, Kamieniec Wrocławski and the surrounding area.

Worth knowing

Campervan electrical installation

Where to start, how much power you really need and why the quote is individual?

There’s no single “right” campervan installation. One person travels at weekends with mains hook-up and needs only lighting and a fridge. Another works from the campervan for six months, charging a laptop, camera and drone, and wants independence from campsites. Those are two entirely different systems and two different budgets.

So we start with a conversation about how you use the campervan, not with a parts catalogue. We calculate real energy consumption, size the batteries and panels accordingly, and then present a proposal with a quote. No over-specification, and no system that runs out of power in August.

  • How many solar panels does a campervan need?
  • What battery capacity is right?
  • Do I need a 230 V inverter?
  • How long does the installation take?
  • Why is the quote individual?

What the installation covers

We design the system as a whole, so the components work together rather than merely function separately:

  • Solar panels — sizing, roof mounting, cable glands
  • Leisure batteries — AGM, gel or LiFePO4
  • An MPPT charge controller matched to the panels and batteries
  • Charging from the alternator while driving (DC-DC charger)
  • Charging from 230 V mains on campsites
  • A 230 V inverter for powering equipment
  • Distribution board, fuses and wiring with headroom
  • A control panel — state of charge and consumption at a glance

Victron Energy systems and solar power

We build our installations around Victron Energy components. That is not a matter of taste: these devices share one communication system and one app, and spare parts are genuinely available — so the system can still be extended in two years, not only today. On top of that we fit photovoltaic panels: on motorhomes, panel vans and caravans alike.

  • MPPT charge controllers – they get the most out of your solar panels even under clouds and partial roof shading.
  • DC-DC chargers from the alternator – they charge the leisure battery while you drive, including Euro 6 vehicles with a smart alternator where a simple connection does nothing.
  • Pure sine wave inverters – sized for the actual appliances; a kettle, an induction hob and air conditioning are a different world from a laptop charger.
  • LiFePO4 batteries with BMS – more usable capacity at lower weight, and with cell heating they also charge below freezing.
  • Consumption monitoring – real state of charge and power draw in the app, instead of guessing from voltage.
  • Roof-mounted solar panels – mounts, cable glands and cable runs done so that there is no talk of leaks years later.

How we calculate your needs

Instead of asking “how many panels do you want”, we calculate how much energy you actually use in a day. That’s the only way the system makes sense.

  • The fridge — usually the biggest consumer, running around the clock
  • LED lighting — little current, but over many hours
  • Water pump and heating — short but heavy draws
  • Laptop, phones, camera — depending on how you travel
  • Reserve for cloudy days — a system with no headroom lasts one season

Building from scratch or expanding

We work both on campervans built from the ground up and on finished ones that need more independence.

  • A full installation in a campervan converted from a van
  • Expanding a factory system with panels and bigger batteries
  • Tidying up a system previously extended in stages
  • Swapping lead-acid batteries for LiFePO4 with the charging adapted to match
  • Documenting the installation — so the next repair doesn’t start from zero

Why the quote is individual

A single headline price would be honest here only by accident. The scope depends on things that can’t be assumed in advance:

  • The campervan’s construction and access to the routes for the cabling
  • The condition of the existing installation, if there is one
  • The chosen battery capacity and panel output
  • Whether an inverter is needed, and at what power
  • The extent of the mounting work on the roof and inside the build

Take care of your engine and... battery!

Every service we provide includes a free battery check. We don’t just change the oil and filters — we also make sure your car starts every time you need it.

FAQ — everything worth knowing about electrical installations

Not everything has to be obvious — so we’ve prepared short answers to the questions we get asked most often. Quick, clear and to the point.

The quote is always individual, because the range is enormous — from a simple setup with one panel and one battery to a system with LiFePO4, MPPT and an inverter. Describe your needs through the form and we’ll prepare a concrete proposal.

That follows from your consumption, not from the roof area. We calculate daily energy use and size the panels with headroom for cloudy days. A common mistake is too few panels with a large battery — the battery then never charges fully.

For heavy use and off-grid stays — usually yes, because it’s lighter, has more usable capacity and survives many times more cycles. For a few weekends a year with campsite power, AGM is enough.

Depending on the scope, from one to several working days. We give you a realistic timeframe with the quote, once we’ve agreed exactly what is being fitted.

No — we specialise in the electrical system. We can, however, work alongside whoever is building the interior and coordinate the work so the cabling is routed before the walls are closed up.
