Book a campervan electrical repair — Siechnice, Wrocław and area

Describe the symptoms and give us the campervan model — the more detail, the faster we find the cause. We start diagnosis with measurements rather than replacing parts, so the problem often turns out cheaper than expected.

We look after campervans and vans at our workshop at ul. Zielona 40 in Siechnice and with call-out across: Wrocław, Bielany Wrocławskie, Długołęka, Kiełczów, Smolec, Radwanice, Żerniki Wrocławskie, Żórawina, Miękinia, Kąty Wrocławskie, Kobierzyce, Iwiny, Kamieniec Wrocławski and the surrounding area.

Worth knowing

Campervan electrics

Why the battery won’t charge, what fails most often and where diagnosis should start?

The 12 V system is the heart of a campervan — the fridge, heating, water pump, lighting and device charging all depend on it. When it stops working, a trip turns into improvisation, and the cause is rarely where the symptom shows.

Most often it comes down to three things: a worn leisure battery, charging that is badly matched or faulty, and connections that years of vibration have loosened. We start by measuring the whole charging circuit, and only then say what needs replacing.

  • Why won’t the leisure battery charge?
  • Which battery to choose — gel, AGM or LiFePO4?
  • What fails most often in campervan electrics?
  • Can the system be repaired without a rebuild?
  • How long does electrical diagnosis take?

What we repair

We handle the 12 V system and everything that runs off it:

  • Leisure batteries — diagnosis, replacement, choice of type and capacity
  • Charging from the alternator, from 230 V mains and from solar panels
  • Charge controllers, inverters and fuses
  • Interior and exterior lighting, LEDs
  • Power supply for the fridge, water pump and heating
  • 12 V sockets, USB and device charging
  • Wiring — repairing connections that have stopped holding

The most common faults

The symptom rarely points to the cause. Here’s what we find most often:

  • A sulphated or overcharged leisure battery — the most common reason for “no power”
  • A badly matched charge controller that never charges the battery fully
  • Loose or corroded connections — years of vibration take their toll
  • An overloaded circuit and blown fuses
  • A system extended in stages by different people, with no wiring diagram
  • Solar panels connected without a proper controller

Diagnosis instead of guesswork

Replacing the battery “just in case” is the most expensive way to look for a fault. We do it the other way round.

How the visit goes

  • Voltage and current measurements across the whole charging circuit
  • A load test on the leisure battery
  • Checking charging from the alternator, the mains and the panels
  • A specific cause identified, not a list of suspicions
  • A repair quote before the work starts

Which battery for a campervan?

This is the question we get most often, and there’s no single answer — it depends on how you use the campervan.

  • AGM — cheaper, fine for weekend trips with mains hook-up
  • Gel — resistant to deep discharge, a good compromise
  • LiFePO4 — lightest and longest-lasting, worth it for heavy use and off-grid stays
  • Compatibility with the charging system is decisive — the best battery is useless with the wrong controller
  • We’ll advise on type and capacity for the way you travel

Take care of your engine and... battery!

Every service we provide includes a free battery check. We don’t just change the oil and filters — we also make sure your car starts every time you need it.

FAQ — everything worth knowing about campervan electrics

Not everything has to be obvious — so we’ve prepared short answers to the questions we get asked most often. Quick, clear and to the point.

Usually it’s worn out, or it never charges fully because of a badly matched controller. Sometimes a device that is supposedly switched off keeps drawing current. Measurements show which of these it is.

Usually one to two hours, depending on how extensive the system is. Installations extended in stages without a wiring diagram take longer — the cabling has to be traced.

Yes, and it’s a common case. We start by working out how the system is built, then say plainly what can be repaired and what is better rebuilt properly.

Yes. We fit photovoltaic panels and systems built on Victron Energy components — MPPT controllers, DC-DC chargers, inverters and monitoring. Full 12 V installation work is quoted individually (a separate service: campervan electrical installation). Tell us what you need and we’ll prepare a quote.

We try to avoid it and usually succeed. If reaching the wiring would mean interfering with the build, we tell you before starting work.
