The 1.3 Multijet engine, also known as the SDE (Small Diesel Engine), is one of the most common small diesel units in Europe.   • Don’t switch the engine off right after hard driving or leaving the motorway — give the turbine a few dozen seconds to cool down
  • Every so often take a longer, calm run so the DPF can finish regenerating and the oil can boil off the collected fuel
  • Check the oil level on the dipstick roughly every 2–3 fill-ups, especially when driving mostly in town
  • Don’t stretch the change interval — the small sump doesn’t forgive delay
  • Use only oil with the right Fiat standard and, in the DPF version, the Low SAPS class
